I wish I could write music with people that want to play this genre of just passion filled hardcore but most people here either want to write metal (metalcore, deathcore, etc.) or hatebreed/terror style hardcore.
“Peace is all around you, so why do you lack peace? You’re like a person in rowboat, on a pristine mountain lake, dying of thirst. God has an infinite supply, He wants you to have it, so guess where the holdup is? Your circumstances will never be good enough to allow you to be totally at rest, so stop waiting for the perfect moment, and drink deep.”—Unka Glen (unkaglen.tumblr.com)
My sermon that I had to give which I decided to be living in spiritual authority and making a correlation between Amos of the Old Testament and the Acts church of the New Testament. It sounds weird because I had the mic really far away so I apologize and I stumble through my words a lot (Mosaic complex) but please bear with me. I hope you enjoy it and get something out of it.
I just… I don’t understand how people can support abortion. It makes no logical sense to me whatsoever. “It’s not your body, it’s not hurting you, let them do what they want with their own bodies.” No, it’s not my body, but it’s not theirs either! It’s the developing body of THEIR OWN OFFSPRING….
I completely agree with you on that aspect because life does start at conception because even though that zygote is not formed a body those cells are still alive because cells do live and do die and the DNA that is inside is the same DNA that is in them when they are living. I understand some of the situations where an unfortunate events as in the woman was raped and was got pregnant but just because an unfortunate event has happened does not justify the killing of another life. I am not just some ignorant pro-life person that doesn’t know both sides because honestly I have done my research and actually talked to people who went through with having an abortion and not only the depression that they ensue is awful I have seen literal physical complication due to the procedure. I could go on but I’m going to end my rant haha.
Living in spiritual authority is to live in confidence with what God has done, is doing, and is doing through you and speaking truth with boldness because you know God’s character and what he can do through us.
1. If God has called you to do/say something that may be considered culturally taboo go out and do it and do it with boldness that God is with you.
a) There will be the intimidators that will try to stop you through threats and deceit. (Amos 7:12-13, Acts 6:8:12)
Then Amaziah said to Amos: “Go you seer! Flee to the land of Judah. There eat bread, and there prophesy. But never again prophesy at Bethel, for it is the king’s sanctuary, and it is the royal residence. Amos 7:12-13
And Stephen, full of faith and power, did great wonders and signs among the people. Then there arose some of what is called the Synagogue of Freedmen (Cyrenians, Alexandrians, and those from Cilicia, and Asia), disputing with Stephen. And they were not able to resist the wisdom and the Spirit by which he spoke. Then they secretly induced men to say, “We have heard him speak blasphemous words against Moses and God.” And they stirred up the people, the elders, and the scribes; and they came upon him, seized him, and brought him to the council. Acts 6:8-12
b) Do not resist the Holy Spirit, but pray be led by the Holy Spirit. (Acts 4:23-29)
And being let go, they went to their own companions and reported all that the chief priests and elders had said to them. So when they heard that, they raised their voice to God with one accord and said, “Lord, You are God, who made heaven and earth and the sea, and all that is in them, who by the mouth of Your servant David have said:
‘Why did the nations rage,
And the people plot such vain things?
The kings of the earth took their
And the rulers were gathered
Against the Lord and against His
…Now, Lord, look on their threats, and grant to Your servants that with all boldness they may speak Your word. Acts 4:21-29
2. There will be Punishments for what society has done but God will always make a way out through redemption because of His mercy.
a) Through the destruction, there will be restoration (Amos 9:11, John 2:19)
“On that day I will raise up the tabernacle of David, which has fallen down, and repair its damages; I will raise up its ruins, and rebuild it as in the days of old; That there may possess the remnant of Edom, and all the Gentiles who are called by My name,” says the Lord who does this thing. “Behold, the days are coming,” says the Lord, “When the plowman shall overtake the reaper, and the treader of grapes him who sows seed; The mountains shall drip with sweet wine, and all the hill shall flow with it. I will bring back the captives of My people Israel; they shall build the waste cities and inhabit them; they shall also make gardens and eat fruit from them. I will plant them in their land, and no longer shall they be pulled up from the land I have given them,” Says the Lord your God. Amos 9:1-15
Jesus answered and said to them, “Destroy this temple, and in three days I will raise it up. John 2:19
b) In restoration there is spiritual growth and maturity.
3. God chooses the ordinary to do the extraordinary. (Amos 7:14, 1 Corinthians 1:27)
Then Amos answered and said to Amaziah: “I was no prophet, nor was I a son of a prophet, but I was a sheepbreeder and a tender of sycamore fruit. Then the Lord took me as I followed the flock, and the Lord said to me, ‘Go, prophesy to My people Israel.’ Amos 7:14-15
But God has chosen the foolish thing of the world to put to shame the wise, and God has chosen the weak things of the world to put to shame the things which are mighty; 1 Corinthians 1:27
There are two kinds of people the people who are like Amos or Stephen who God places to do the hard things or the people that hear what God is wanting from them. To the people who are called to stand up do it with zeal and boldness because If God is for us, who could be against us. To the people in the other group receive what God is told you and be obedient to it because we all mess up but God always makes a way out through his mercy and by the blood of Christ we are healed, forgiven, protected from the law, and empowered heirs of God.
“25 Now in the fourth watch of the night Jesus went to them, walking on the sea. 26 And when the disciples saw Him walking on the sea, they were troubled, saying, It is a ghost! And they cried out for fear. 27 But immediately Jesus spoke to them, saying, Be of good…
How atheists bash on Christians for believing in God and saying “He isn’t real, and if He is, He is a hateful hypocrite” and also that we are hateful and close minded. I giggle at the fact that they are acting the same way they portray the group that he/she is bashing on. At the same time though, a lot of “Christians” today help set up that stereotype that all Christians are hateful bigots, which disturbs me is that Paul wrote to the Corinthians to do the exact opposite If I speak in the tongues of men and of angels, but have not love, I am a noisy gong or a clanging cymbal. And if I have prophetic powers, and understand all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have all faith, so as to remove mountains, but have not love, I am nothing. If I give away all I have, and if I deliver up my body to be burned, but have not love, I gain nothing. 1 Corinthians 13:1-3. We as Christians should be loving the people, but still hating the sin. That concept could be easily skewed, but I see it as this: You see someone that is struggling with gossip. You can show your love for them by saying “Because I love you and want to see you flourish and grow in your relationship with God I have to tell you that you need to seek the Lord for your gossiping problem because I don’t want to see you going down a road that will only lead you to hurt, isolation, and destruction.” Yet people either are loving the person even with their sin and say “God knows where you’re at” and have no desire to get rid of the sin that is plaguing them. On the opposite but equally as bad end we see more than anything else are the people that hate the people because they are sinners and not realizing that “Hey, I am a sinner myself.” Jesus put it really good Why do you see the speck that is in your brother’s eye, but do not notice the log that is in your own eye? Luke 6:41. I am not trying to judge people on how they are raised or criticize anyone’s person theology I am only making a perspective point from a Christ follower and intern to go into full time ministry (though if you are a Christian we are all called into ministry of some sort whether it is working in the Church itself or in your school and/or workplace but for the sake of clarity when I say full time ministry I mean being a preacher and working in the church). As Christians we are called to live separate from what this world is trying to throw at us and be the shining light in the darkness and show Christ’s love and take care of the widows and the orphans WITH LOVE but how can we show our love of Christ and what He has done in us? It’s takes work and discipline of praying that the Holy Spirit show you God’s character by reading the one book that reveals God’s character and His love, the Bible. A novel concept really reading your Bible, but not reading the Bible at face value but being lead by the Holy Spirit as you read and how you never realize that that one story or passage has so much more relevance in my life and that you make time out of your day to do that and pray to God and establish a relationship. I am no way near saying that I support a works based religion I am merely saying if you are truly being lead by God and have a real relationship reading your Bible and having that quiet time won’t be such a pain but that you actually yearn for know more of who God is. Getting back to the subject at hand I see so many Christians that say they believe in God but it stops there and they want to live like they did before their salvation and then just come to church and confess but dive right back in to that lifestyle yet again. That kind of lukewarmness borderline hypocrisy should fire us up to make a change yet we fall into fear of being judged even though WE WILL BE PERSECUTED FOR OUR FAITH! If you have a relationship and are on fire for God you will be persecuted you just cannot go around it, but we should stand confident that if God is for us who you be against us, but we still just say “No I don’t want to offend anyone or make them feel uncomfortable”. The world sees us as weak, ignorant, and hateful people when they should see us as the shining beacon of God that is hear to spread truth and life to spread the glory of God to the world so we may further His kingdom. I hope you got something out of this and I apologize if it was a long boring read but I felt it needed to be said. As an added note that it is a blessing to be persecuted for your faith because it is only a sign that you’re going after God with all your heart and the enemy wants nothing to do with that because it means that you are wielding the power of God and Satan has no hold on you so when that does happen just remember that and God bless.

“I have faith that God will show you the answer. But you have to understand that sometimes it takes a while to be able to recognize what God wants you to do. That’s how it often is. God’s voice is usually nothing more than a whisper, and you have to listen very carefully to hear it. But other times, in those rarest of moments, the answer is obvious and rings as loud as a church bell.”—Nicholas Sparks (The Last Song)
It is the first time in about 2 months though I love the internship it sure feels good just to relax and maybe work on my study that God led me to make on Amos and Acts. If anyone wants to talk please do so.
